Norwegian traditional solje brooch

Here is a traditional Norwegian solje brooch (Sol means sun), designed to be worn on folk costumes which are still used on festive occasions, especially weddings.  Small brooches, as here, were given to children for good luck. There are no marks to identify either the maker or the material, but most soljes are made of silver and then gold-plated, the dishes sparkling with reflected light


Condition: Excellent, no visible damage, original patina, straight pin and C clasp
