Here is a fabulous Sterling silver pendant by the distinguished silversmith Ola Gorie, based on the Scottish northern islands of Orkney (see bio). Invaded by the Vikings in the 8th century, these islands were under Norwegian rule until 1472, leaving many traces, influences and links. This magnificent dragon is based on carvings found at Maeshowe, Stenness, Orkney. This is a neolithic chamber which was broken into by Earl Rongvalds men in 1142 and they are said to be responsible for the carving.
