Here is a nice Sterling silver and abalone ring by the sought-after Danish modernist master Palle Bisgaard.
Bisgaard, who was self-taught. opened his workshop in Kirke Hyllinge near Roskilde in 1954, the same year as Arne Johansen. I have no doubt the two silversmiths knew each other and influenced each other's work. Bisgaard was the first in Denmark to use abalone shell in his jewellery, and Johansen also adopted this material.
The Danish Silver Museum at Koldinghus hold 4 pieces by Bisgaard,
