Here is a wonderful and unusual pair of Sterling silver cufflinks by Norway's leading silversmith David-Andersen. The company launched a series called ' Saga' in the 1960s. These items took their inspiration from prehistoric finds from the year AD 300 to 1000, later deposited with the Oslo historical museum.  The motif on these cufflinks is coped from an object dated to the Norwegian Iron Age, around 500AD.

Here is a fabulous pair of super-sleek and elegant cufflinks by Bent Gabrielsen Pedersen (see bio), who designed all the jewellery at the Hans Hansen smithy between 1953 and 69.   There is a groove along the centre of these narrow rectangular Sterling silver cufflinks, inlaid with either a thin layer of hematite, grey enamel or oxidisation. I cannot decide which.  The cufflinks feature the trademark Hans Hansen backs of the period.

Here is a pair of deceptively simple, timeless cufflinks designed by Henry Pilstrup for Georg Jensen.   These cufflinks  were probably designed in the 1930s, going by the number 54,  in the strict Functionalist style,  with a double layer of silver, on both the fronts and the backs,  oxidised along the edge, as the only decoration.

Ola Gorie Sterling silver Burrian cross cufflinks

Here is a fabulous pair of  Sterling silver cufflinks by the distinguished silversmith Ola Gorie, based on the Scottish northern islands of Orkney (see bio).  Invaded by the Vikings in the 8th century, these islands were under Norwegian rule until 1472, leaving many traces, influences and links.  The  cross motif stems from the Broch of Burrian,  North Ronaldsay, the most remote of the islands, suggesting the presence of Celtic Christianity amidst Pictish culture. It is engraved on a a large stone slab, found in 1870. With Ola Gorie box.
